Tarte tatin is not necessarily sweet. No, if we are used to entertaining ourselves with this apple or pear sweetness at the end of a meal for dessert, we may well return to it as an appetizer or main course! Discover the onion tart tatin, incredibly delicious, with melted red onions and caramelized balsamic vinegar. Plus, you barely have to do anything to make it! Recipe Tarte tatin with onions
- 1.5 kg red onion
- 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 C. olive oil
- 1 C. brown sugar
- 25 g butter
- 1 shortcrust pastry
Peel the onion and cut into rings about 1 cm thick. Put them in a baking dish, then drizzle with balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
Sprinkle with sugar and garnish with chunks of butter. Finally add the thyme and bake for 30-35 minutes at 180°C until they are soft.
Once the onions are browned and soft, place them in a pie dish lined with parchment paper.
Put shortbread dough on top, bending the edges inward. Bake for 15 minutes at 180°C until the pastry is golden brown.
Let cool for a few minutes before flipping the onion tart tatin, then remove the baking paper and serve immediately!
